News Release: CHAMBER TO HOLD 2023 PROVINCIAL ELECTION FORUMS

(Medicine Hat) – The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a business-focused public debate forum for provincial election candidates on Wednesday, May 17th and Thursday, May 18th at the Crescent Heights High School Theatre starting at 7:00 pm.

  • May 17th: Brooks-Medicine Hat Candidates
  • May 18th: Cypress-Medicine Hat Candidates

Candidates will be given the opportunity to address concerns and issues relevant to the business community and the general public in a moderated debate.  The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce is excited to have Dan Reynish of CHAT TV News returning to moderate the forms. There will be portions of the debate that will allow for open debate and, if time permits, an opportunity for the general public to hear candidate responses to written questions submitted to the Chamber before and during the forum. This year we will also include time for those in attendance to interact with candidates before the forum in a meet-and-greet session in the lobby outside the theatre. The meet-and-greet portion of the evening will begin at 6:00 pm with the forum commencing at 7:00 pm.

‘The Chamber is committed to our principles of being open-minded, results-oriented, collaborative, impartial and respectful,’ stated Trevor Anhel, Chamber of Commerce Board President. ‘We want to provide our community with an opportunity to become well-informed about the candidates running in their riding. By hosting election forums we bring candidates and the electorate together to hear about the issues that are of importance to them and provide an opportunity to interact in a positive and informative atmosphere.’

This year the chamber will be focusing on a Vote Prosperity campaign that highlights business topics in four pillars:

  • Strengthening Business Competitiveness
  • Growing Provincial Trade
  • Building Healthy Communities
  • Improving Government Accountability

Questions for the forum can be submitted in advance for consideration to
