The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce announced its call for nominations for its Board of Directors, with nominations being accepted from Monday, March 31, 2025 to Monday, May 5, 2025

The Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada (CCEC) has announced that the Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce is one of Canada’s Top 10 fastest growing Chambers. In CCEC’s new research report, Membership Trends Across the Chamber Network, the Southeast Alberta Chamber ranked #5 in Canada among Chambers with more than 500 members.

City Council approved a motion to assign a secondary permanent commemorative name of “Commerce Way” to a portion of 6th Avenue SE from 1st Street SE to 5th Street SE. This change coincides with the celebration of the Chamber’s 125 years in operation in 2025.

Low taxes and free enterprise will drive competitiveness and our future economy and while we are pleased to have the lowest corporate tax rate in the Country, we would like to see the same for the small business tax rate. While currently at 2%, we have been asking for it to be the lowest in the country with our neighbouring prairie provinces of Manitoba at 0% and SK at 1%. It’s something Chambers across our province have been asking for.

Tariffs are the most urgent threat facing Canadian and American businesses today. Modelling from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's Business Data Lab suggests that these tariffs would come at a huge economic cost, reducing real annual income by $1,900 CAD per Canadian and $1,300 USD per American.

Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce wrapped up 2024 with its annual general meeting, various events and the launch of a new website. The Chamber recognized 135 businesses that joined the Chamber from September 2023 through to August 2024 and celebrated 46 milestone anniversaries for members involved in the Chamber for 10, 20, 30, 40, and 60 years, along with four members who have been with the Chamber for over 100 years.

Event provides an opportunity for WestJet to outline their plans for the community. Starting October 27, the WestJet Encore route will permanently transition to depart Medicine Hat at 7 a.m. and arrive in Calgary at 7:46 a.m. An earlier arrival time in Calgary increases options for connecting flights.

Her Excellency, the Governor General in Council approves the application by the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce to change its name to the "Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce".
