The City of Medicine Hat is advancing the development of the Southside Aquatic Facility to expand outdoor recreation opportunities and enhance community access to aquatic amenities.

Public engagement completed in 2025 demonstrated strong support for an accessible, inclusive, and family-oriented aquatic facility that serves residents of all ages and abilities. The facility is envisioned as a standalone community amenity with the potential for future integration into a broader recreation and wellness centre.

The City is currently pursuing acquisition of the preferred site. Preliminary geotechnical, environmental, and site investigations have been completed to inform project planning and design. The Consultant shall validate all project assumptions, findings, and recommendations as part of the planning and design process.

The City is seeking a qualified multidisciplinary consulting team to provide planning, engineering, development, design, regulatory approvals support, stakeholder and public engagement, procurement support, and construction-phase services. The Consultant will work collaboratively with City Administration and key stakeholders to advance the project through a phased, stage-gate delivery approach.

As part of this mandate, the Consultant shall assess strategic, technical, operational, financial, governance, and implementation considerations to support informed decision-making by Administration and Council. The Consultant's work will establish the business case, project requirements, delivery strategy, and design framework necessary to guide future investment decisions and project delivery.
