SOUTHEASTERN ALBERTA, August 13, 2025 – The Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta (CFSEA) is excited to announce that the Fall 2025 Community Grant Cycle is now open.
Promotion poster for the Community Foundation’s upcoming Community Grant applications
Charities and non-profit groups across Southeastern Alberta are encouraged to apply for funding to support local programs and initiatives that strengthen their communities. Eligible applicants include registered charities, municipalities, and school divisions, recognized as qualified donees by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Non-profit organizations that are not registered charities may also apply. These non-qualified donees, such as registered Alberta non-profit societies that are currently in good standing and have existed for at least five years, may request up to $5,000. To request more than $5,000, non-qualified donees must complete a Declaration of Affiliation, a brief form that outlines a shared understanding of project oversight and accountability. CFSEA is happy to assist applicants through this process.
Applications may be submitted to CFSEA’s online grant portal and must serve one or more of the following areas:
- Medicine Hat & District
- Brooks & District (County of Newell)
- Special Areas 2, 3, 4, and the MD of Acadia
- Cypress County
- County of Forty Mile
Important Dates:
- Grant Cycle Opens: August 6, 2025
- Letter of Intent (LOI) Deadline: September 2, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.
- Full Application Deadline: September 15, 2025, at 4:30 p.m.
Applications are reviewed by CFSEA’s Grants Committee or local Community Fund Advisory Committees, which include the Community Foundation’s Board Members and community volunteers who bring valuable regional insight to the decision-making process.
While all eligible applications are welcome, CFSEA aims to support initiatives that align with the Foundation’s priority areas: work and economy, connection and belonging, and basic needs, including housing, food, and health. In rural areas, CFSEA places particular emphasis on health, housing, and social isolation.
