National Chamber of Commerce seeking feedback on proposed U.S. tariffs

The Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, is seeking feedback from businesses and industries on how the Trump Administration’s proposed new 50 per cent tariffs could impact local businesses.
A time-sensitive online survey has been launched to collect data on how these tariffs could impact sales, costs, contacts, production, investment, jobs and local communities.
The survey seeks to identify which Canadian businesses, industries and products will be affected, the impact on sales and costs and how many jobs could be affected or put at risk.
The survey also seeks to collect information on other measurable impacts to businesses or communities that have not already been mentioned.
“It is important that they hear from all parts of the country,” reads a local press release. “If you are an affected business, please complete the short survey as soon as possible.”
The survey includes a few questions including location, industry and describing details on potential impacts, financial impacts or changes to hiring, working hours or seasonal employment.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce says it’s important to collect data from all parts of the country and is specifically seeking data from the Prairies, Atlantic Canada and the Territories.
No deadline has been published on the survey, however as the matter is evolving daily, the chamber encourages businesses to complete the survey, which can be found on the Southeast Alberta’s Chamber of Commerce website, as soon as possible.
Last week the National Chamber of Commerce welcomed an agreement by nine provinces to enable direct-to-consumer sales of alcohol across provincial borders.
Additionally Shauna Feth, president and CEO of the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, joined her counterparts from across the country to send a joint letter to Canadian premiers recommending a new policy framework developed by the chambers be presented at the One Canada Summit.
