Position Title:  Birthday Party Leader    

Reports To:     HFA Programs Manager

Pay Grid:        $16.00 /hr

What qualifications are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:


Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

    Standard First Aid, CPR-Level C

    Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search if applicable), within the last six months  


Knowledge & Skills

    Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills  

    Exceptional customer service skills   

    Experience with Computers and MS Office Suite

    Strong project management skills

    Excellent organizational and time management skills

    Must be a great collaborator who works well in a team environment but can also be self-directed and personally accountable to meet deadlines and achieve results.   

    Understanding of privacy legislation and ability to maintain confidentiality.   

    Belay training is an asset



What does this role look like at the YMCA of Medicine Hat? 

Reporting to the HFA Programs Manager the Birthday Party Leaderis responsible for organizing and executing birthday parties, working closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences for their celebration.

The responsibilities and duties of this role will include but is not limited to:


Customer Service

·    Provide excellent customer service to ensure the satisfaction of the client and their guests.

·    Interaction with volunteers, members, employees, and the public at large   

·    Respond to all internal and external inquiries in a professional manner.

Teamwork

·    Work effectively within the HFA team, contributing to its overall success by:

-    Promoting and/or attending YMCA events

-    Other duties to assist the team, as assigned 

·    Work Cooperatively and professionally with all party participants, clients and support staff.


SAM Standards

·    Achieve all quality standards and targets established under YMCA best practices and the YMCA’s SAM 2.1 program 

·    General cleaning as required around the facility

·    Ensuring all staff are aware of SAM 2.1 standards, and work with them to create a culture of excellence in adherence to guidelines and expectations outlined by the SAM 2.1 manual

·    Maintain cleanliness of Birthday Party and Rental areas


Interpersonal/Communication Skills

·    Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and the senior leadership team

·    Ensure workplace conflicts are resolved quickly, following YMCA policies and procedures


Quality of Work

·    Organize, implement, and supervise games and or activities 

·    Prepare the party room which consists of set up as well as food preparation

·    Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of room, clean up, evaluation and stats

·    Ensure all birthday party participants have signed the multi-use waiver

·    Handout and collect feedback using birthday party feedback forms.

·    Ensure all birthday party fees are paid.


Compliance with Legislation and YMCA Policies and Procedures

·    Adherence to the following at all times:

·    YMCA Child Protection and Operational Polices and Procedures 

·    Public health and safety regulations

·    Occupational Health and Safety


Work Environment and Physical Demands

·    Work in loud noisy environment 

·    May be going from standing to seating positions, from standing to kneeling positions, from kneeling to standing positions, from seating to standing positions for most of the working day, there will be walking throughout the day 

·    Walking up and down stairs 

·    May lift or move items up to 50 lbs. including children 

·    Working on a computer screen, computer keyboard and mouse 

·    May be exposed to verbal/physical abuse from external and internal clients
