We are currently seeking an HR Consultant to join our team; however, we are also open to considering a Senior HR Consultant if the right candidate comes along.
The scope of responsibility, level of autonomy, and compensation will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, demonstrated capability, and fit within Red Rock HR’s established career progression framework.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are all about teamwork and transparency, so here is some insight on the role and our future thoughts on where it may lead to This is a part-time HR Consultant role (approximately 20 hours per week, Tuesday to Friday) designed to offer flexibility, collaboration, and meaningful, client-facing work. Hours are flexible and may be structured as shorter daily shifts or fewer longer days, based on what works best for both the individual and the team.
This is a hybrid position, combining remote work from home with in-person attendance at client sites and the office as required to support service delivery.
Part-time HR consulting roles are uncommon—and we know it. This position is intentionally designed for an experienced HR professional who wants to remain engaged in impactful, hands-on consulting work without committing to full-time hours.
As Red Rock HR continues to grow, there is potential for this role to expand into a full-time position within 6 to 12 months, should business needs align and if the successful candidate is interested. Alternatively, the role may remain part-time on an ongoing basis.
This position will assume responsibility for a significant portion of Red Rock HR’s recruitment clientele, with the expectation that the Consultant will grow, develop, and strengthen this business area over time. As the role evolves, there is an opportunity to take responsibility for the recruitment function, including future oversight of this business unit.
The role will also contribute to the development and implementation of Red Rock HR’s four-day work week model, supporting sustainable client coverage and internal team success, a.k.a coverage for the Founder for days off to ensure clients are being serviced.
Growth and advancement in this position are directly tied to performance, client satisfaction, and the overall positive impact the Consultant brings to Red Rock HR and its clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver HR consulting services for assigned clients, including employee relations support, compliance guidance, performance management, etc.
- Draft, review, and implement HR documentation such as policies, job descriptions, contracts, and related tools, programs or guides, etc.
- Support or lead full-cycle recruitment for client roles, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and coordination of the recruitment process
- Participate in client meetings, investigations, and HR-related activities as required
- Maintain accurate and organized client files, documentation, and workflows within internal systems
- Collaborate with internal team members to meet client timelines and service quality standards
- Represent Red Rock HR professionally with clients, partners, and within the community
- Contribute to internal process improvements, systems, and workflows that support efficiency and scalable growth
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- A self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and a continuous learning mindset.
- Not afraid to hit the ground running and start working and taking on initiatives.
- 2–5 years of HR experience (consulting, generalist, or recruitment experience preferred for an HR Consultant and 5-10 years of experience as a Sr. HR Consultant.
- A team player who’s not afraid to take ownership and suggest new ideas.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, HR compliance, and recruitment processes.
- Tech-savvy and confident using or learning new technical tools like HoneyBook, QuickBooks, Canva, WIX, Asana, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Located in or near Medicine Hat, with the ability to attend in-person meetings and client sites visits when needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

This recruitment process includes two steps:
Step 1 – Short Video Submission
