HALO is the only dedicated medevac helicopter for southern Alberta with the capability of serving southwest Saskatchewan. 

The availability of the helicopter improves response time to trauma victims in remote or inaccessible areas and increases the coverage area for delivering qualitative medical care. 

HALO Air Ambulance is the only Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) Program dedicated to serving southern Alberta. The remoteness of our region, the lack of established landing strips, and the limited availability of other emergency air ambulance helicopters was the motivation for HALO to begin planning and fundraising for the vision of having a dedicated air ambulance helicopter for southern Alberta. In July of 2007, the dream became a reality.

The availability of the helicopter drastically improves response times to critically ill or injured patients in remote and inaccessible areas and increases the coverage area for delivering qualitative advanced medical care. HALO is a much needed contribution to the already established Alberta Health Service EMS Air and Ground Ambulance System.

HALO Air Ambulance is governed by a Volunteer Board of Directors who work tirelessly to keep HALO ‘In Flight For Your Life’. HALO Air Ambulance receives very little funding from the Government of Alberta, we rely on donations from community-minded individuals, responsible corporate partners, and leading regional municipalities. No patient has ever received a bill from HALO.
