Community Partners,
We are building out our ambitious plan to support our students in meeting the future needs of Alberta’s workforce and to do so we need your important voice at the table. We want to draw on the wisdom from those that know the realities business and industry face relative to the workforce. We also want to share our planning and use the synergy in the room to create new and better pathways for our students to transition to careers.
To that end we are hosting our “Career Pathways Forum” on Thursday, January 11th, 2024 at Medicine Hat High School. This event will provide a crucial opportunity for business, industry and government to generate input and give feedback to support the future of our workforce. Exciting initiatives have already begun and this event promises to generate more, fueled by community partnerships and networking between key community members.
You will learn about fascinating new opportunities in the world of “dual-credit”, work experience and how CAREERS is working with school divisions to support work placements. For instance, did you know that students can have nearly one year of their post-secondary training completed before they are finished high school? Just imagine how this can impact apprenticeships and workforce training!
We will share information about the “Skills for Jobs Task Force”, “The Career Education Task Force” and how we are implementing the vision established in the “Trades, Apprenticeship and Vocational Education committee report”.
Most importantly, we want to hear from you and capture your thoughts, feedback and ideas. How can we develop partnerships within our community? Create placements and experiences for our students? Establish networks that make a difference and foster a mindset of community development? All of this and more will be on the table, so please come ready to share!
Please mark your calendars for January 11th, 2024
