Vote Prosperity 2021: Building for the Future - Election Interviews released

Municipal Election interviews for the 2021 Councillor Candidates are now available

The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Pattison Media has released its Municipal Election interviews for the 2021 Councillor Candidates. Along with the live-to-tape interviews, a written questionnaire dives deeper into the issues that matter most to the business community and includes questions submitted to the Chamber over the summer.

The Chamber has used its 2021 Vote Prosperity platform to address the most important issues for economic growth, and is focused on ‘Building for the Future’. The platform outlines five fundamental pillars for a strong and prosperous Southeast Alberta Region and was built from the Chamber's economic impact, outcomes and opportunities report published earlier in 2021.

Five pillars were identified for the 2021 Vote Prosperity platform including an innovative and competitive strategy, infrastructure development, image and branding, workforce development as well as business and financial support.

Through this platform, the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce recommends that our municipal leaders:

  • Advocate for the use of innovative strategies to benefit businesses and education in our region.
  • Allocate time and funding to improve the civil infrastructure of the region.
  • Create a plan to address the image issues that are slowing the growth in our region.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to growing our workforce by promoting the use of professional development programs and attracting talent.
  • Clarify taxation rules and ensure equal opportunity for business growth after the financial recession.

The interviews were focused on candidate profiles, priorities and policies, along with alignment to the Chamber's platform. Each interview was conducted by the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce and made possible through the partnership with Pattison Media, and the generous support of Big Marble Farms.

The Municipal Election Interviews were organized and offered to all participating Councillor Candidates for the 2021 Election. Candidates scheduled a time for their interview where they were asked six unknown questions in a live-to-tape interview. Candidates were also sent a fourteen-question survey that was a prerequisite for their interview to be aired.

The live-to-tape candidate interviews are now available on www.medicinehatchamber.com/votepropserity2021 and https://chatnewstoday.ca/municipal-election-2021-candidates/, as well as the Chamber's YouTube channel. Pattison media will also be launching a live-to-tape Mayoral Debate on October 7th, 2021.
