(Medicine Hat) – The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual business awards with a virtual celebration allowing the community to participate safely and free of charge.

“So many of our businesses have continued to drive forward through incredibly challenging times. They have adjusted their business models and reinvented how they operate. Taking a cue from our business community, we’re following their example and adapting our Chamber Business Awards to meet the challenges of our present circumstances. While we cannot host our typical large gala event, we’re excited for the opportunity to open up these festivities to everyone free of charge, thanks in large part to our sponsors,” commented Chamber of Commerce President, Tracy Noullett.

Driving Business Forward is the theme that will be used to celebrate the 20th edition of the Chamber’s business awards which have evolved over the past two decades from recognizing the Small Business and Large Business of the Year to the fifteen awards being presented on October 16, 2020.

“Our business awards have changed over the years, adding new categories, fine tuning processes and growing our attendance. While the format this year is different, the purpose behind this signature event remains the same. As in years past we will take this evening to shine a spotlight on the accomplishments of our business community and celebrate examples of excellence,” said Noullett.

The Chamber is encouraging those that are watching the program to celebrate the evening and kick off small business week by ordering from their favourite restaurant to help support the food service industry. “We know that our restaurants were among the first and hardest hit in our business community, which we’ve highlighted with the national Our Restaurants campaign. By having a virtual celebration, our attendees will have the ability to choose their meal from the many amazing restaurants in our community,” stated Noullett. “On a night where we celebrate the business community, we can’t think of a more appropriate gesture than ordering from the restaurants that have been a part of so many of our personal and professional celebrations over the years.”

This year’s major sponsors include Jim Pattison Broadcast Group (Event Sponsor), TD Bank (Technology Sponsor), Canadian Natural Resources Limited (Entertainment Sponsor), Brightan Financial Strategies Inc. (Chamber Partner Sponsor), with event supporters including Methanex (Gold Sponsor), and Auto-Star Compusystems Inc. and Medicine Hat Brewing Company Inc.
