The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce, along with the Bow Island & Burdett Chamber of Commerce are coming together to enhance services and increase value for the regional business community in Southeast Alberta through a recently approved service agreement.

The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce recently approved their strategic plan in March of this year with one of their goals identified as influencing regional collaboration and opportunities through the strength of their network by exploring partnership opportunities with other Chambers and organizations. At the same time, the Bow Island and Burdett Chamber of Commerce was seeking out ways to increase value and connections with their membership, while maximizing their resources. Through these shared goals and objectives, the two Chambers discussed the opportunities and came together in a new partnership and service delivery model.

‘As a volunteer run organization, we were finding it increasingly difficult to connect with our members, while still maintaining our full-time roles in our respective businesses, stated Bow Island & Burdett Chamber of Commerce President, Darci Nixdorf. ‘We recognize the immense value a Chamber of Commerce can bring to businesses in our region, but it takes time and resources to ensure the supports and information are there for our businesses.’

The Bow Island & Burdett Chamber of Commerce reached out to explore options through discussions with the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce. This provided the opportunity for the two organizations to come together under a new service delivery model to provide the benefits of membership to members in both organizations and to increase the business supports available, while enhancing the collaboration within the region.

‘This new opportunity aligned with our strategic priorities,’ stated Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce President, Marcus Campbell. ‘By offering our team of experts and resources to more businesses in the region, not only can we ensure all our businesses are supported, but we can also further amplify the Local First message throughout the Southeast Alberta region, recognizing and bringing together all the amazing businesses we have in our corner of the province.”

Each organization will still maintain their collective identities, but the new agreement will provide additional services to the Bow Island & Burdett Chamber and its members including, governance, membership services and benefit administration, communications, policy and advocacy and event assistance.

‘We are proud to be able to access additional supports in our Chamber network and partner with the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce to increase the value to our collective memberships. We share many common businesses and business issues within the region and we are proud to partner together to continue to build the businesses that support our families and our communities’, concluded Nixdorf.

The Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce upholds the highest standards for Chambers across the country, as an Accredited Chamber of Commerce in Canada.  This includes a strong strategic focus, dependable governance procedures, distinctive brand identify and a competitive edge with a strong business voice. Businesses within the region can connect with the Chamber through their website or by calling the office at 403.527.5214, along with reaching out to the Bow Island & Burdett Chamber through their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/bowislandchamber/ and email: chamber@bowislandchamber.com.
