Outreach Counsellor, Employment (Summer Student)

The Outreach Counsellor, Employment (Summer Student) position is a temporary, eight consecutive week position with full time hours (35 hours/week).
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Job grant program, and eligibility criteria are as follows:
Must be a registered full-time student during the 2020/2021 academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the 2021/2022 academic year.
Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
Must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

• No preference will be given to students who are immediate family members of an employer, director, or senior officer of the employer.
• No member of the Senate or the House of Commons or member of their immediate family shall be admitted.
Under the supervision and guidance of the REDIworks Services Supervisors, the student will learn to provide personalized supports and skill development to enable individuals to achieve their desired outcomes through meaningful community involvement, with a focus on employment and volunteerism.

Basic computer skills, experience with ShareVision is an asset, Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Carry out assigned duties in an ethical manner
Demonstrate good communication skills, effective time management, respect for others
Establish and maintain positive relationships with individuals, co-workers, and others
Assist in the implementation of individual services by providing support to them with skill building, maintaining, and promoting the wellbeing, independence, and/or recreational/leisure activities
Utilize personal skills and abilities to foster increased socialization and community inclusion. provide advocacy and assist with self-advocacy, promote socially valued roles
Provide input to and assist with applicable individual documentation and other pertinent agency documentation/records
Attend staff meetings, individual related planning meetings and will be expected to participate in training and in-services as required
• Valid First Aid Level C (preferred)
• Current and clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Proof of full-time student status for the current and upcoming academic year
